Grand Hyatt Miami Beach Topping-Off Milestone

GHMB Topping Off Ceremony

Construction milestone brings the destination's long-awaited 800-room headquarters hotel one step closer to opening, strengthening Greater Miami and Miami Beach's ability to attract the world's largest meetings and conventions.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (July 27, 2026) — Greater Miami and Miami Beach marked a major milestone in the evolution of its meetings and conventions industry today as public and private partners celebrated the topping off of the Grand Hyatt Miami Beach, the long-awaited 800-room headquarter hotel that will connect directly to the Miami Beach Convention Center. Scheduled to open in late 2027, the hotel represents the next evolution of Greater Miami and Miami Beach's world-class meetings infrastructure, creating new opportunities to attract larger citywide conventions while enhancing the attendee experience through direct connectivity to the Miami Beach Convention Center.

“This milestone reflects years of collaboration between the public and private sectors to bring this transformative project to life,” said David Martin, CEO of Terra. “Grand Hyatt Miami Beach is designed to strengthen the Convention Center District by enhancing walkability and creating stronger connections to some of Miami Beach’s most important cultural and civic destinations, including Lincoln Road, the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, the Bass Museum, the Miami City Ballet, the Holocaust Memorial, and the broader Arts District. Together with new public spaces and resilient infrastructure, the project will help support the city’s long-term economic growth while creating a more connected and vibrant experience for residents and visitors alike.”

“This project is a true testament to the unwavering commitment of partners who have been united in enhancing and lifting up Miami Beach,” said Jackie Soffer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Turnberry. “The arrival of Grand Hyatt Miami Beach will have a transformative impact on the community, bringing with it new economic opportunity, an important hub for the Convention Center District, and world-class hospitality that will fuel destination events and conventions.”

Miami Beach continues to experience strong tourism and convention demand. In 2025, Greater Miami and Miami Beach welcomed 28.3 million visitors, underscoring the need for expanded, high-quality hotel inventory adjacent to the Convention Center.

“Reaching this milestone marks another defining moment in bringing Grand Hyatt Miami Beach to life,” said David Whitaker, President and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This project represents a critical piece of our convention ecosystem, and its continued progress reinforces Greater Miami and Miami Beach’s position as a premier destination for world-class meetings, conventions and events. The addition of a hotel of this size and its connection to the convention center has opened the door for literally dozens of major conventions and trade shows that have never convened here to now show an interest and a desire. That in itself is transformative.”

Located at 17th Street and Convention Center Drive, Grand Hyatt Miami Beach will provide seamless access to the newly renovated Miami Beach Convention Center. The hotel will offer bold and vibrant architecture and design, true to the Grand Hyatt Brand, featuring 12 floors of elevated guest rooms, including 50 suites with sweeping views of Miami Beach, and four floors of meeting and ballroom space designed to complement the Convention Center’s programming. The 110,000 square feet of meeting space will also include an 8,000-square foot Grand Lawn located on the fifth floor rooftop amenity deck with views of the Miami skyline.

“The significant construction development for Grand Hyatt Miami Beach represents an important achievement in Hyatt’s continued growth in the region and our commitment to expanding in destinations that matter most to World of Hyatt members, guests and customers,” said Adam Rohman, Head of Americas, Hyatt. “We are proud to work alongside Terra, Turnberry and the City of Miami Beach to deliver a hotel that will support major meetings and events, welcome travelers from around the world and create meaningful connections with the surrounding community.”

"The convention center hotel will be a game changer for our city, representing a major investment in our community," said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. "We look forward to its role in attracting top conventions and providing the world-class infrastructure a destination of our caliber deserves. Its completion will serve as a significant economic booster, strengthening our city’s vitality and supporting our long-term growth."

"Following our $640 million reimagining, a connected headquarters hotel has been the missing piece of the Miami Beach Convention Center campus,” said Freddie Peterson, General Manager of the Miami Beach Convention Center.  “With today's milestone, we're one step closer to completing a vision that pairs venue excellence with the world-class accommodations needed to compete for the world's premier meetings, conventions and trade shows. The Grand Hyatt Miami Beach will further strengthen our role as an economic engine—attracting new visitors, supporting local businesses, creating jobs and generating lasting economic impact throughout Greater Miami and Miami Beach.”

Designed by Bernardo Fort-Brescia of Arquitectonica, and built by Balfour Beatty, Grand Hyatt Miami Beach will offer resort-style amenities and serve as a catalyst for Miami Beach’s evolution into a premier destination for national and international meetings and events. The hotel was designed to be a destination within a destination where guests will enjoy an expansive amenity deck with two resort style swimming pools, event space, Grand Club, and Fitness Center with Spa Treatment Room. The hotel will offer panoramic city vistas, a signature restaurant, lobby lounge and bar, as well as 17,000 square feet of retail space designed to activate the street-level experience. The hotel will offer a variety of guest rooms and suites, with nearly two thirds of rooms featuring spacious balconies and many offering views of the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. Additionally, a climate-controlled skybridge will serve as a connection between the hotel and the Convention Center, enhancing connectivity and convenience for event attendees.

Once complete, the development also plans to introduce new public spaces, pedestrian-friendly promenades, bike-sharing stations, and connectivity to public transit, aligning with Miami Beach’s broader sustainability and resilience goals while providing access to the city’s nearby Lincoln Road district.
