Miami Beach Convention Center Achieves AIPC Gold Level Certification
Miami Beach (June 30, 2026)—The Miami Beach Convention Center has achieved AIPC Quality Standards Gold Level Certification, following a comprehensive external audit conducted by the program’s designated auditor.
This certification places Miami Beach Convention Center among an elite group of more than 30 AIPC centres worldwide that have attained this international benchmark of excellence. AIPC is the global industry association for professional convention and exhibition center managers, with members in more than 60 countries representing over 1,000 management-level professionals worldwide.
Developed specifically for the convention centre industry, the AIPC Quality Standards Program provides an independent and structured evaluation of a centre’s management performance across key management areas. It remains the only certification tailored exclusively to convention and exhibition centres.
Miami Beach Convention Center’s Gold Level certification highlights the Centre’s commitment to quality, operational excellence and continuous improvement. During the audit process, the Centre was recognised for the quality and completeness of its submission, the strength of its supporting documentation and the clarity of its strategic improvement objectives. The audit further confirmed a strong culture of performance measurement, accountability and continuous enhancement across the organisation.
The certification audit assesses eleven key management areas that capture the evolving priorities of the global meetings industry: Customer Service, Quality of Facilities and Operations, Employee Relations, Health, Safety, Security and Emergency Response, Financial Integrity, Community Relations, Environmental Responsibility, Industry Relations, Inclusivity, and Supplier Relations.
Centres that complete the audit consistently report that the process not only validates their ongoing efforts but also provides valuable insights for further enhancement and team engagement.
AIPC President Julianne Jammers congratulated Miami Beach Convention Center on its achievement:
“Achieving AIPC Gold Certification is a significant accomplishment and reflects Miami Beach Convention Center’s commitment to excellence, continuous improvement and international best practice. We are delighted to welcome MBCC into the group of AIPC centres that have attained this important industry benchmark.”
“Achieving AIPC Gold Certification is a significant milestone for the Miami Beach Convention Center and a testament to our team’s commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and exceptional service,” said Greg O'Dell, President, Venue Management, Oak View Group. “As one of the most respected benchmarks in the convention center industry, this distinction places the facility among an elite group of venues worldwide recognized for the highest standards of performance and management. We are proud of our team and our partnership with the City of Miami Beach, whose shared commitment continues to deliver outstanding experiences for clients, attendees, and the community.”
For the Miami Beach Convention Center, this recognition also reflects a transformative period of accelerated innovation, investment and strengthened partnerships. Managed by Oak View Group (OVG) and owned by the City of Miami Beach, the Centre, which is the second largest convention center in Florida, continues to build on its landmark $640 million renovation and expansion completed in 2020 with ongoing strategic improvements that reinforce its position as a gold standard convention center.
Dave Anderson, SVP Oak View Group said: “We sincerely appreciate this recognition and are honored that the Miami Beach Convention Center has received the AIPC Gold Certificate. The certification process provides a valuable framework for operational efficiency, continuous improvement and strategic planning, reinforcing our shared commitment with the City of Miami Beach to serving the global meetings and events industry while supporting long-term economic impact for our destination.”
Current projects at the MBCC include approximately $27 million across 31 active capital projects, major sustainability-focused lighting and energy efficiency upgrades, venue-wide Wi-Fi 7 deployment, expanded digital assets and continued audio/visual enhancements. These improvements support enhanced speed, reliability, cybersecurity, digital capabilities and customer service for exhibitors, vendors, organizers, attendees and guests.
The centre’s sustainability and community efforts further illustrate the values reflected in AIPC Gold Level Certification. The MBCC is now a 100% LED facility across its 1.4 million event space and is Gold Certified for Sustainability and Social Impact by the Events Industry Council (EIC), with a 4 Green Keys rating through Green Key Global and LEED® Silver certification. In partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), the venue continues to support environmentally responsible practices across the meetings and hospitality industry.
“We are deeply grateful to AIPC for this tremendous recognition and for its leadership in advancing global standards of excellence across the convention center industry,” said Freddie Peterson, OVG’s General Manager of the Miami Beach Convention Center.“ Achieving AIPC Gold Level Certification is a proud milestone for the MBCC, our dedicated staff, our leadership team, the City of Miami Beach and our partners. It validates the work we are doing to elevate the guest experience, invest in innovation and technology, advance sustainability and strengthen our role within the community. Most importantly, it places the Miami Beach Convention Center on the global convention center stage among an elite group of venues committed to quality, accountability and continuous improvement.”
Miami Beach Convention Center’s achievement demonstrates a strong culture of quality, transparency, and strategic leadership within the international meetings industry, further strengthening its reputation as one of North America’s premier business events venues and a gold standard center for innovation, investment, community impact, technology and sustainability.
