MBCC ready: meet the MBCC health ambassadors

(MIAMI, FL) – September 23, 2020 – As buildings across Miami Dade County reopen at reduced capacities, the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) has assigned Health Ambassadors to support event planning with health and safety venue measures for a safe return to live events and gatherings at the venue.

MBCC Ready reopening plans detail the rigorous venue health and safety measures deployed to reduce the risk of transmission and return to live events, highlighting the new roles of Health Ambassadors assigned from Spectra Venue Management and Centerplate teams to facilitate the event planning process.

To ensure proper and consistent communication of event guidelines, local government requirements and venue operating procedures, MBCC designated two existing team members as Health Ambassadors to support the event planning process, providing a central point of connection between clients, vendors, service providers, partners and public health official guidance.

Health Ambassadors focus on:

  • Remaining informed of and communicating infectious disease public health recommendations
  • Studying industry best practices as a resource for event planning
  • Guaranteeing consistent communications between customers, clients, service providers and the venue
  • Reviewing floor plans, layouts, and pedestrian traffic flow for all events
  • Implementing new procedures related to infectious disease prevention and recovery at the venue, and
  • Developing and conducting training and orientation for MBCC employees.

During the pre-planning process of the event, the assigned MBCC Event Manager and the MBCC Health Ambassadors will work closely with the event organizer, general service contractors, and service providers to ensure all federal, state and local public health guidelines are met with minimal disruption to the event.

As a Health Ambassador I am excited consult with clients and customize event solutions that are in-line with the City of Miami Beach and the MBCC’s health and safety measures.”

MBCC’s Health Ambassadors provide an important resource for events at the MBCC. Along with customizable event layouts that support social distancing for a wide range of guest counts, MBCC’s health and safety measures continue to build confidence in the event experience to safely reopen the venue for live events.

MBCC’s other reopening measures include recent awarding of GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation supporting comprehensive cleaning and disinfection protocols with third-party validation. MBCC leverages 1.4 million square feet of flexible event space and 9-acres of surrounding green space to achieve social distancing at eventsMBCC staff participates in the City of Miami Beach’s MB Standard program, undergoing regular COVID-19 testing, health screenings and more. MBCC has also added new physical and digital, permanent and portable signage throughout the venue that reinforce CDC recommended practices.

The MBCC established the MBCC Recovery Task Force in order to develop and implement fundamental practices and procedures which adhere to local public health recommendations (including those from the City of Miami BeachMiami Dade CountyState of FloridaCDC and WHO), while also incorporating venue industry best practices and recommendations from Spectra Venue ManagementSodexo-Centerplate, Smart City NetworksEverlast Productions and 1st Class ValetPrior to the development of the Reopening Plan document, the Task Force released the MBCC’s Recovery Plan (comprised of Guiding Principles & Metricsas well as Venue Measures), in support of practices that protect the collective health and pave the way for a safe return to live events.
