(MIAMI, FL) – September 23, 2020 – As buildings across Miami Dade County reopen at reduced capacities, the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) has assigned Health Ambassadors to support event planning with health and safety venue measures for a safe return to live events and gatherings at the venue.
MBCC Ready reopening plans detail the rigorous venue health and safety measures deployed to reduce the risk of transmission and return to live events, highlighting the new roles of Health Ambassadors assigned from Spectra Venue Management and Centerplate teams to facilitate the event planning process.
To ensure proper and consistent communication of event guidelines, local government requirements and venue operating procedures, MBCC designated two existing team members as Health Ambassadors to support the event planning process, providing a central point of connection between clients, vendors, service providers, partners and public health official guidance.
Health Ambassadors focus on:
Remaining informed of and communicating infectious disease public health recommendations
Studying industry best practices as a resource for event planning
Guaranteeing consistent communications between customers, clients, service providers and the venue
Reviewing floor plans, layouts, and pedestrian traffic flow for all events
Implementing new procedures related to infectious disease prevention and recovery at the venue, and
Developing and conducting training and orientation for MBCC employees.
During the pre-planning process of the event, the assigned MBCC Event Manager and the MBCC Health Ambassadors will work closely with the event organizer, general service contractors, and service providers to ensure all federal, state and local public health guidelines are met with minimal disruption to the event.
“There’s a lot of information out there,” said Will Green, Event Manager and Health Ambassador for Spectra Venue Management at the MBCC. “We can’t expect event organizers to know everything that’s required by our particular venue and our local public health officials. As a Health Ambassador I am excited consult with clients and customize event solutions that are in-line with the City of Miami Beach and the MBCC’s health and safety measures.”
“Catering and concessions are reimagined at the MBCC,” said Andrew Brailsford, Senior Sales Manager and Health Ambassador for Centerplate at the MBCC. “We’re serving clients, guests and attendees in a way that minimizes risk to guests and staff without sacrificing great taste and beautiful presentation.”
Sodexo and Centerplate’s program Together We Rise details companywide food and beverage safety measures that support easy catering and concessions. MBCC’s exclusive catering by Centerplate features Chef Ismael Lasalle’s custom menus highlighting locally sourced ingredients and South Florida’s rich flavors. Tastemaker and influencer Steven Haas helps MBCC’s clients design unforgettable event experiences. MBCC’s delicious menu offerings are beautifully served by Centerplate with elegance, presentation and tons of flavor.
MBCC’s Health Ambassadors provide an important resource for events at the MBCC. Along with customizable event layouts that support social distancing for a wide range of guest counts, MBCC’s health and safety measures continue to build confidence in the event experience to safely reopen the venue for live events.

MBCC leverages 1.4 million square feet of flexible event space and 9-acres of surrounding green space to achieve social distancing at events.
