at the prestigious 2025 Skift IDEA Awards. Miami Beach Convention Center Recognized as Best in the Nation for the Second Year in a Row

Miami Beach, FL – The Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) has been named the Best Convention Center in the U.S. at the prestigious 2025 Skift IDEA Awards, which spotlights the most innovative and impactful achievements in the global travel industry. With more than 420 entries and 247 finalists across categories, this recognition places MBCC among industry leaders shaping the future of meetings and events.

“This award reflects the dedication of our staff, community and partners to delivering exceptional events and building wonderful memories for our guests while setting new standards for the industry,” said Freddie Peterson, MBCC General Manager, owned by the city of Miami beach and privately managed by Oak View Group. “It is a testament to the hard work and passion of our team  and the incredible support we receive from the City of Miami Beach, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, our venue partners from Oak View Group and Sodexo Live!, and our valued vendors and contract partners who help bring our vision to life every day.”

"This recognition is a testament to the bold vision and significant investment made by Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Beach in transforming The Miami Beach Convention Center,” said David Whitaker, president and ceo of The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.  “The industry is clearly taking notice — Miami Beach is now firmly positioned among the world’s premier destinations for global events, where innovation, sustainability, and world-class hospitality come together to create extraordinary experiences."

A cornerstone of South Florida’s economy, the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) is a premier destination for global meetings and conventions. Since its $640 million transformation in 2020, the MBCC has welcomed hundreds of thousands of guests annually across industries from tech and finance to arts, sports, and medicine, generating tens of millions in annual economic impact for the region.

The reimagined, venue offers nearly 500,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, a 60,000 sq. ft. Grand Ballroom, four junior ballrooms, 84 breakout rooms, expansive lobbies, and 9 acres of surrounding green spaces including Pride Park and Collins Canal Park. Its campus also features Rum Room, a 1920s-inspired restaurant, and Venu, an upscale event space. Continued investment, including $19 million in FY25 capital projects and a $1.5 million LED wall initiative, ensures the convention center remains on the cutting edge.

Located in the heart of Miami Beach’s cultural district, the MBCC will expand further with the 800-room Grand Hyatt Miami Beach, opening in 2027 with a skybridge connecting directly to the center. Underscoring a deep commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, the Miami Beach Convention Center recently earned a 4 Green Keys rating from Green Key Global, an achievement made possible through partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. The MBCC, already LEED Silver Certified, continues to lead in energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction.
