Miami Beach, FL (August 2, 2019) - Miami Beach’s recently renovated Convention Center has unveiled a new 60,000-sf Grand Ballroom, one of the largest in the region, as well as a 20,000-sf Sunset Vista Ballroom.

The Grand Ballroom is located on the north side of the convention center’s second level and can be partitioned into halves or thirds using air walls. It is equipped with acoustic panels to heighten sound quality, as well as LED lighting and artwork installed by Miami Beach’s Art in Public Places. The installation Atlantis by artist Ellen Harvey, depicts hand-painted satellite map imagery etched into glass panels, contrasting the Everglades and Miami Beach.

“The Miami Beach Convention Center’s new Grand Ballroom is a significant addition for the local community, as well as for visiting guests,” said Freddie Peterson, general manager for the Miami Beach Convention Center. “Miami’s world-class meeting facilities, hotels, and tropical landscape already draw more than 1.3 million business and convention travelers each year, and we are excited to see the Miami Beach Convention Center become the industry standard for high-profile meetings, events and citywide conventions.”

The new Grand Ballroom also features 18,000 sf of pre-function space, which can host large scale events for up to 600 people. It is surrounded by natural light and modern glass paneling and is located next to the Grand Staircase overlooking the artwork Morris Lapidus by Sarah Morris. While the new 20,000-sf Sunset Vista Ballroom is located on the fourth floor and offers stunning views of the Miami Beach skyline.

The Miami Beach Convention Center underwent a $620 billion LEED-certified renovation in 2018, which added 200,000 sf of flexible event space. It is located on a 52-acre campus in the heart of Miami Beach, just 12 miles east of Miami International Airport and within walking distance of the Art Deco District, Lincoln Road and world-famous beaches.
