Rum Room and Venu at Miami Beach Convention Center Commemorate Third Anniversary Celebration

Miami Beach, FL — April 22, 2026 — Rum Room and Venu, the Miami Beach Convention Center’s on-campus restaurant and private event space, celebrate their third anniversary with a lively, all-day experience coinciding with Earth Day, highlighting their continued commitment to fresh, locally inspired cuisine and vibrant hospitality.

The celebration takes place Wednesday, April 22, from 12–9 p.m., featuring a curated anniversary Happy Hour from 4–7 p.m. Guests can enjoy exclusive drinks and bites, live acoustic music, surprise giveaways, and a selection of dishes that pay homage to Rum Room favorites from the past three years. Miami Beach residents and hospitality industry professionals will also receive a 10% discount during the celebration.

A highlight of this year’s anniversary is the debut of The Rainmaker, a new featured cocktail crafted with fresh ingredients from the sustainable garden on the restaurant’s terrace along Collins Park Canal. Priced at $15 during Happy Hour and served with complimentary yuca fries, The Rainmaker will be served in a Rum Room–branded coconut while supplies last.

A curated anniversary Happy Hour menu will feature celebratory bites including Maduro Bread with sofrito butter ($6)—a throwback favorite—alongside Conch Fritters with Creole mayo ($15), Chorizo Sliders with red pepper aioli ($17), and Classic Beignets ($9).

Live music during Happy Hour will be performed by Will Thomas, whose yacht rock–inspired acoustic set adds to the relaxing atmosphere that defines the Rum Room experience.

Sodexo Live! Executive Chef Ismael LaSalle leads the culinary program with a philosophy rooted in seasonality, sustainability, and bold, culturally influenced flavors. Chef LaSalle emphasizes fresh, high-quality ingredients—many sourced directly from Rum Room garden—to create dishes that are both vibrant and thoughtfully composed. His approach blends classic techniques with modern flair, resulting in a menu that is dynamic, locally grounded, and reflective of the surrounding community.

Newly appointed Restaurant Supervisor John Moore brings over 15 years of experience in South Florida’s hospitality market, with deep-rooted relationships across the local concierge and business communities. His background spans entrepreneurship, hotel concierge services, and restaurant operations, including leadership roles connected to major Miami venues. Known for his strong

industry connections and guest-centric approach, Moore plays a key role in enhancing the overall dining experience at Rum Room.

“Since the grand opening, Rum Room and Venu have grown to become favorite destinations for visitors, residents, event organizers, exhibitors and employees,” said Freddie Peterson, General Manager of the Miami Beach Convention Center. “In just three years, we’ve created so many wonderful memories by hosting custom events for groups and special moments for our local customers. The whole team takes great pride in the legacy we’re building.”

“This third anniversary is a chance to convey gratitude to our loyal following and invite new guests to come celebrate with us,” said Randy Morales, Sodexo Live! General Manager at the MBCC. “Extending the best in hospitality and service is something we do with pleasure each day. We’ll continue to innovate our offerings and uphold the high standards we’ve established—and do it all in a style that’s authentic to our Rum Room and Venu brand.”

Rum Room and Venu are owned by the City of Miami Beach and jointly managed and operated by hospitality partner Sodexo Live! and leading full-service venue management company Oak View Group (OVG).

Rum Room is a combined indoor/outdoor 80-seat restaurant with Old World and tropical 1920s Florida décor and an upscale menu that draws on Florida’s history and Miami’s Haitian, Latin, and Central American influences. Also drawing on history, its cocktail program features classic rum cocktails with modern interpretations, alongside a curated selection of local and imported rums and other premium spirits.

Venu, occupying what was formerly the 1916-built Miami Beach Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse, is an intimate event space and bar designed to be a favored destination for elegant private events and upscale VIP experiences as part of the MBCC’s convention offerings. The restored historic landmark is one of the oldest public buildings in Miami Beach and now serves as a sophisticated venue for cocktail receptions, business meetings, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, and more.
